Motion to ballot for Industrial Action

This branch notes: 

a)         the results of the recent UCU members’ consultative ballot on industrial action (70.3% turnout; 63.5% in favour of strike action; 87.6% in favour of action short of a strike); 

b)         that UCU Roehampton negotiators put the process of balloting for industrial action on hold in order to facilitate discussions with Senior Management;

c)         the report of those discussions held on Monday 11 January 2021, disseminated on 12 January 2021; 

d)         the lengthy process of balloting 

Therefore, this branch resolves to request authorisation to ballot and to move to a ballot for industrial action immediately.
